Application

The RRD-01 Softness Tester is designed to measure the stiffness of fabrics by determining the force required to push a sample into a slot. It is widely used for testing the softness of materials such as tissue, non-woven fabrics, tobacco sheets, and textiles, providing insight into the physical characteristics of both finished and semi-finished products.
 

Principle

 

The test sample is placed on a slot formed by two parallel plates, with a fixed gap between them. A force is then applied by a probe (or blade) connected to the tester's drive system, which pushes the sample about 8mm into the slot. The maximum force required to bend the sample into the slot is recorded as the softness of the material, reflecting its resistance to bending.
