Formula

The Mop Cloth Coefficient of Friction (COF) is determined by dividing the force needed to move one surface across another by the force perpendicular to the surfaces. It has two kinds: Static and Kinetic. Static COF (µs) is a measure of force required to begin movement, while Kinetic COF (µd) is a measure of force required to maintain movement.

Test Method

To test the Mop Cloth Coefficient of Friction, fix the sample cloth to its aluminum or plastic frame, then place the total assembled part under a certain weight. The block, together with the sample and its frame, is pulled at a speed of 500mm/min, over a 500mm distance. The static and kinetic coefficient of friction are recorded.
