ASTM D5458 Standard Test Method for Peel Cling of Stretch Wrap describes a way to measure the adhesion strength between two layers of film, so as to know which of the two layers (external or internal) can adhere with greater or lesser strength. 

Test Principle

Peel cling testing requires two different types of samples. The first sample is larger piece as backing placed on test bed. The second piece is a smaller strip which is peeled off of the larger sample.  

The larger sample is wrapped fixed on the incline surface and the smaller sample is attached to a clip, connected with loadcell. It's pulled after it's clung to the large sample and the force is measured during the pulling. 

Test Device

BB/T 0024 is shown in the following figure. It consists of a tripod and an L-shaped frame. During the test, the tripod is fixed on the L-shaped frame. The film is pulled out from the tripod through the L-shaped frame roller and clamped by the tensile tester clamp.

 

We recommend the way described in ASTM D5458, which, during the test, reduces the influence of frictions in a tensile tester and pulley.
